You do not need a referral from a GP or specialist to see a speech pathologist. Families and individuals are welcome to self refer by contacting our clinic directly. If you have concerns about your child’s communication, feeding, or social skills, you can book an appointment with us without waiting for a medical referral. However, if you are eligible for Medicare rebates (such as through a Chronic Disease Management Plan), a GP referral will be required to access those rebates.
The cost of therapy at Kip Kids Speech Pathology varies based on the type and length of services provided. Please contact us for more information on our fees and payment options.
At the first appointment, we begin by getting to know you and your child. Parents are asked to complete a client intake questionnaire, which helps us understand your child’s history, strengths, and areas of concern. During the session, the speech pathologist will spend time observing your child and may use play based activities or short screening tools to gather more information. This initial session helps us build a picture of your child’s needs and decide whether further assessment or ongoing therapy would be most helpful.
Yes, I do work with schools, kindergartens, and childcare centres to support children in their everyday learning environments. However, this depends on the individual school or centre, as each has its own policies and regulations regarding outside practitioners. If you are interested in this option, I recommend discussing it with your child’s school or centre first, and I am happy to work with staff to coordinate support where possible.
Yes, I do offer therapy in the home. Working with a child in their own environment can be very beneficial, as it allows therapy to take place in a familiar and comfortable setting. This is especially helpful for feeding therapy, where using your child’s own highchair, utensils, and mealtime routines can make sessions more meaningful and practical for your family.
Yes, I am able to provide services to families who are plan-managed and self-managed under the NDIS. At this stage, I am not registered with the NDIS for agency managed plans.
